I recently cleaned out my drawers and found a basket of old empties and products I'd decided to stop using. I do monthly posts about all the products I try, so I thought why not run you through my empties from last year and beyond.
Malin & Goetz Grapefruit Cleanser:
This cleanser just has way too many chemicals in it for me. I also didn't see too much of a difference in my skin, so I wouldn't repurchase it.
Batiste Dry Shampoo:
This used to be my holy grail dry shampoo, but I stopped using it for a long time before picking up one from another brand and deciding I liked it much better. So while this is a decent product, I probably wouldn't purchase it again.
Lush Sleep Lotion:
I love this product. When I was younger, I couldn't stand the smell of lavender. Which sucked, because I've always needed help getting to sleep. I tried this out for the first time last year in a small tub and was pleasantly surprised to find that the smell didn't give me a pounding headache. And yes, it definitely helped me relax and get to sleep. I immediately repurchased it when I ran out. I've since discovered the Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum Cream, but when I run out of it I'll probably buy a tub of this again.
Pixi Rose Oil Blend:
I loved this oil, and find it pretty comparable to Go-To's Face Hero oil. I want to try a few more oil blends, but I'd definitely repurchase this product.
Malin & Goetz Vitamin E Face Moisturiser:
If you read my last post about ingredients I look out for in beauty products, you'll know that this used to be a holy grail product of mine. After researching its ingredients more thoroughly, I realised it contained some pretty undesirable things and discontinued using it.
L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream:
I didn't have any overwhelming thoughts about this product. It did the job, but I definitely prefer other products to it. If I was in desperate need of makeup and only had access to a Priceline, I'd pick this up again.
Tarte Maracuja C-Bright Eye Treatment:
Tarte makes some of my favourite eye treatments, their 911 Pack Your Bags Undereye Rescue Masks are on my list of favourite face masks. I thoroughly enjoyed this eye cream, but didn't repurchase it because I wanted to try out something different. I'd definitely repurchase it though, and might do so in the future.
Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer:
This was my holy grail for so many years. I used to be in love with the lightest pink shade, but I'm fairly certain they discontinued it. This formula is great for under the eyes, but I do prefer other concealers for spot treatment. I'd absolutely repurchase it but am trying out other products right now.
Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage (sample size):
I really enjoyed the metal roller ball on this product, but you can get the same sensation from a jade roller and I don't think the serum was exceptional. I'd possibly give it another go, but I wasn't blown away by this product.
Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask:
Okay, everyone raves about this product online. But it truly lives up to the hype. I've repurchased this many times, and you can probably see in the picture above that I was buying this long before the packaging change. I used to grab it in Mecca whenever it was right before the counter. This mask is probably my favourite overnight mask, but that being said I haven't looked into its ingredients too closely and I'd definitely do that before repurchasing again.
Urban Decay All Nighter Spray (sample size):
I'm really bad at telling whether or not a setting spray is doing its job. That being said, of all the setting sprays I've tried I think this one did the best job. I decided to try out some others before repurchasing, but I would definitely repurchase this product again.
Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum Cream:
I want to bathe in this cream. That's how much I love it. I'm just sad I can't get the biggie tub of it anymore. But this cream is truly worth the hype. The smell is addictive, and it's super nourishing for your skin. My skin has never felt softer than after I use this product, and I can't rave about it enough.
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara:
This used to be a holy grail product for me, but I haven't used it in a while. I'm normally a fan of natural-looking mascara, but this gives lashes great volume and length without getting too clumpy like other products. I'd definitely repuchase it, and might now just to see if it lives up to my memory.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Pencil:
I was sceptical about this product, because I thought it might have been overhyped. But it impressed me and I loved it. I decided to try some other products before repurchasing, but nothing has come close to it for me.
NYX brow mascara:
This product wasn't bad nor good, it did the job but I wasn't blown away by it. I'm a bigger fan of other products, but if I was in a pinch I might pick this up again.
Products I Won't Finish:
Sephora Purifying & Mattifying Mud Mask:
I used this product once or twice before decided I didn't like it. There are chunks of darker clay in this that I found extremely hard to remove and in some spots they stained my skin. I also didn't see any huge improvements from this mask, so it's a hard pass from me.
Benefit Brow Contour Pro Pencil:
I was so excited to try this product and I was so disappointed by it. I didn't particularly like the different colours, but mostly I hated the texture of this product. It was way too soft and waxy, and I found it just smudged everywhere and looked horrible.
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion:
There are a few reasons why I don't like this products. I've never much liked the consistency of it; I found it much too watery and didn't feel like it offered much nourishment to my skin. Recently I researched its ingredients, though, and realised that it has added colours which I just find unnecessary.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara:
I've just never been able to get behind this product. I've tried it probably three times, and every time I've just found it way too clumpy. I know I'm biased towards more natural-looking mascaras, but there are a few more intense mascaras that I like. I mentioned The Falsies before, and I'd rather just stick to that.
L'Oreal Paris Paradise Mascara:
I got this free with an order, and tried it once before throwing it into my 'will not finish' pile. It's a similar formula to Better Than Sex, and I just found it way too clumpy and not to my taste.
Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub:
I've tried Lush's lip scrubs before and liked them, so I don't know if it's just this jar in particular that I didn't like. I don't like the flavour of bubblegum, but I also found this jar to be super dry and crumbly so it was hard to apply to the lips. I prefer other scrubs, like Frank Body's lip scrub and just couldn't be bothered using up a lacklustre product.
Mario Badescu Rosewater Spray:
Added colours and fragrances. That's all I really have to say. This product is trash. Make your own for much less money and without the added bulls**t.
